This free online course is for anyone interested in getting into coaching or wanting to gain a better understanding of the tennis coaching environment in New Zealand. Completion of this course is a prerequisite for all other courses in the Coach Development Pathways. The course covers the structure of tennis in New Zealand, an explanation of the coach development framework, the key aspects of coaching (covering the role of the coach, how people learn, communication and behaviour, coaching styles, group management and safety, ages and stages of beginner players, and using modified courts and balls), the rules and etiquette of tennis and an explanation of the National Participation programmes.
