Last Tuesday, 24th March, our Junior prizegiving and Interclub team breakup was held at the club on a beautiful balmy evening. Over 50 children attended this event which effectively ends our summer season of activities.
Congratulations to all those children who played in successful teams and thanks to those who played in the club champs.
A quick phone-call to Tennis New Zealand last week confirmed what we had been thinking for some while, we are the biggest Junior club in the country. We recorded more numbers in the u-12 and 12-18 age brackets than any other club in the country by registering 414 juniors last season!!This is some feat for a club with seven courts tucked down a driveway in Strowan!!
The weather came to the party on Saturday ( see Adam below interacting with some players from the weekend) which enabled us to kick start our Pre-Interclub programme for the new season. Once again we have big numbers to deal with not only on Saturday mornings but on three other days of the week. There are still spaces available though but please be quick to register your child. You are not too late if you are wanting to pay in a Senior Interclub team, although some rosters are close to full there are still spaces available in some teams. If you are interested in playing Interclub this year please email admin@wtc.co.nz asap.
